Police are appealing for public assistance as strike force detectives continue to investigate two separate home invasions in Sydney’s Inner West.
Strikeforce Cincotta was established by officers from Inner West Police Area Command in February 2022 following a number of home invasions and robberies in the area.
In one incident, about 1:30pm on Wednesday 29 December 2021, three men – one armed with a knife – forced entry to a home on Baldwin Street, Erskineville, and assaulted the occupant.
The occupant – 39-year-old man – was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics for lacerations to his left arm and body.
The intruders stole jewellery and clothing before fleeing in two separate vehicles – a grey coloured Mitsubishi SUV wagon and a black coloured Suzuki Swift hatchback.
Police established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the incident.
In another incident, about 11:20pm on Monday 31 January 2022, two men – one armed with a knife and the other armed with an unknown weapon – gained entry to a home on Alice Street, Newtown, and assaulted the occupant.
The occupant – a 27-year-old man – was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics for significant injuries to his face and head. He is still receiving treatment for his injuries.
The men stole cash and a mobile phone before fleeing the scene.
Detectives have released CCTV vision and images as inquiries continue into both incidents.
Investigators are hoping to speak with the owners of a black Suzuki Swift hatchback that is shown in the area at the time of the Erskineville incident as they may be able to assist with inquiries.
Images of two men who police believe may be able to assist have also been released.
The first man shown is wearing a light-coloured hooded jumper, black pants, light coloured runners, a hat and a black face mask.
The second man shown is wearing a hooded jumper, black pants, runners, a hat with a white motif and a face mask.
