CCTV released as inquiries continue into Marrickville shooting – Task Force Magnus

Task Force Magnus detectives have released CCTV as part of an investigation into a shooting in Sydney’s Inner West earlier this year under Strike Force Orsino.

About 1.50pm on Friday 7 July 2023, emergency services were called to a business on Marrickville Road in Marrickville after reports two men – aged 20 and 33 – had been shot.

Both men were treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to hospital, with one man suffering serious injuries. Both have since been released.

A short time after the shooting, emergency services responded to reports of two burnt-out vehicles – a grey Kia Stinger in Marrickville and a white Triton Ute in Dulwich Hill.

Crime scenes were established at all three locations which were forensically examined by specialist officers.

On Sunday 9 July 2023, police located a third burnt out car – a white Toyota Aurien – in Smithfield.

Officers attached to Inner West Police Area Command commenced initial inquiries before State Crime Command’s Task Force Magnus and Criminal Groups Squad took carriage of the investigation under Strike Force Orsino.

As inquiries into the shooting continue, detectives are appealing for public assistance to identify two men seen on CCTV leaving the Toyota Aurien in Smithfield and getting into a white Toyota Yaris.

The men are seen wearing all black track suit pants and hooded jumpers.

From 6.30am today (Tuesday 21 November 2023), strike force detectives – with assistance from Raptor Squad – executed three search warrants in Cecil Hills and Smithfield.

Inquiries are ongoing.
