The Tasmanian Craft Fair has grown in both reach and reputation since its first event in 1981, and is now proudly celebrating its 40th anniversary.
I’d like to commend the passion of the Rotary Club of Deloraine, whose relentless hard work over many decades has seen the event grow to become the largest of its kind in Australia.
Set on the Meander River, picturesque Deloraine is the ideal location for the event, which showcases the best makers and artists from around Tasmania, and normally also interstate and overseas.
This year’s event comes with an impressive list of exhibitors, a range of craft demonstrations, as well as live music and family-friendly entertainment.
The Tasmanian Liberal Government is proud to provide ongoing support to the Tasmanian Craft Fair through Events Tasmania’s funding programs.
I’m pleased to see also that a number of exhibitors from the Fair are also participating in the new Taste of Summer event in Hobart later this year
In particular, I’d like to acknowledge the more than $3 million that has been raised by the Tasmanian Craft Fair to fund a variety of community projects, which is due to the tireless work of the volunteers who have contributed over the years.
Events such as this play a crucial role in fostering and promoting the arts and showcasing the skilled artists and makers that we have here in Tasmania.
