Celebrating Tasmanian women in resources industry

Sarah Courtney,Minister for Resources

Congratulations to the exceptional Tasmanian women who were the recipients of the Women in Resources Tasmania Awards 2019.

Playing leading roles in the fields of mining, mineral processing, civil contracting and heavy industry manufacturing, these women are breaking stereotypes with their achievements in traditionally male-dominated industries.

I was proud to meet these women last night in Parliament House and hear the commendations they have received from their employers.

Hosted by the Tasmanian Minerals, Manufacturing and Energy Council in conjunction with the AusIMM Women in Mining Network Tasmania, the awards are in their sixth year.

The 2019 award winners are taking great strides in these critical industries, industries that form the backbone of Tasmania’s economy.

These women will be seen as role models for young women and girls to imagine their future career in Tasmania’s proud resources sector.
