The Central Goldfields Art Gallery July Art Talk will feature Dr Jacqueline Milner, art theorist and Associate Professor Visual Arts at La Trobe University.
The event will be held next Wednesday 20 July from 10.30am to 11.30am at the Maryborough Resource Centre Atrium (just next to the Maryborough Library).
Central Goldfields Shire Councillor Grace La Vella said the Art Talks had been popular since their inception in March.
“The monthly Art Talks are presented on a wide range of topics, providing an opportunity for locals and visitors to ‘transport yourself’ through illustrated, informative lectures presented by a range of engaging and expert speakers.
“The talks are a wonderful way for our Gallery to connect with the community whilst the Gallery is closed for redevelopment. If you haven’t been yet, I’d encourage you to come along! They are social, friendly events, and everyone is welcome.”
At the July event, Dr Jacqueline Milner will present Care ethics and art – which will explore what it would mean to have care — everything we do to maintain, continue and repair our world so we can live in it as well as possible — at the centre of our politics.
In this talk Dr Jacqueline Milner considers the power and possibilities of care as the basis of all our practices and the importance art can play in wellbeing and the link between art and systems of power.
The Central Goldfields Art Gallery Art Talks are delivered in partnership with Maryborough U3A.
Everyone is welcome to attend, with refreshments provided. Entry is via a gold coin donation.
