Last weekend, CFA members participated in a multi-agency Women in Rescue training activity at Geelong, hosted by Bellarine SES.

Women in Rescue is a training event designed to provide women with the opportunity to get hands-on with equipment, build on rescue and leadership skills, and have fun in a safe and supportive environment.

The session aimed to grow confidence among participants, get participants more familiar with the rescue tools and expand members’ leadership skills.

CFA Mannerim brigade members, Lieutenant Sandra Beasley and Firefighter Emma Avery, were involved in the session alongside other emergency service members.

“It was a very engaging experience, and I had a lot of fun trying it out and meeting new people along the way,” Emma said.

Sandra said the training exercise was empowering.

“It was a great opportunity for us to challenge ourselves, especially when using the road rescue tools and stabilising equipment,” she said.

“Emma and I felt fully supported by the training staff and other SES members.”
