Working people and other members of the community will gather on the evening of Tuesday 16 April to kick off the Change the Rules election campaign for the seat of Reid.
Working people are demanding a fair go. This means fair pay rises and more secure jobs. To achieve this we need to change the rules at work.
To Change the Rules, we need to change the government.
Reid is currently held by departing Liberal MP Craig Laundy.
What: Change the Rules election kick-off, Reid
Where: Concord Bowling Club, 1A Clermont Ave, Concord
When: Wednesday 17 April, 5:45PM (interviews) 6PM (meeting, vision only)
Who: Working people from in and around Reid, ACTU President Michele O’Neil, Unions NSW Secretary Mark Morey
As noted by ACTU President Michele O’Neil:
“People in Sydney need good, secure jobs and fair pay rises but the Morrison Government and big business are standing in the way of this. We are ready to win a fair go.
“We are ready to take action to change the government and win more secure jobs and fair pay rises.
“Anyone who wants to live in a better, fairer country, who wants more secure jobs and fairer pay rises should join the movement for change.”
As noted by Unions NSW Secretary Mark Morey:
“Scott Morrison and the Liberals have put a wrecking ball through wages and conditions. Wage theft has flourished and platforms like Uber and Airtasker have turned jobs into gigs without basic workplace rights like superannuation, sick leave and holidays.
“We are fighting hard at this election to make sure our kids enjoy the same jobs and rights that we have benefitted from. Quality jobs are the foundation on which families and communities are built.”
