We have decided to delay the training and checking systems deadline.
The 2 March 2023 milestone has been delayed until at least 1 September 2023.
Why are the dates changing?
For the past 5 months we have been working with a range of operators on their submissions. This has required considerable effort by us and the operators.
We decided that it would be sensible to move the deadline to a later date. We want to consider the feedback we’ve received as well as how we can improve our processes and streamline our approach. Engagement with an industry group is being established to progress this work.
It’s important that together we get this right before we continue to work with more operators on their submissions.
What does this mean?
You should continue to manage any of your employee’s training and checking requirements in the same way as you are doing now.
We acknowledge those operators who have submitted their documentation and are ready to gain their approvals. Whether it has been by using the sample manual or your operator specific proposal, the work you have done is greatly appreciated.
You must also continue to use any existing CASA-approved training and checking system you have in place.
If you have applied for a revised approval, you must use your previous system until you hear from us.
When will you hear from us next?
We are updating the legislative instruments to reflect the new deadline. It will be updated before the end of February 2023.
We’re working through a new implementation timeline for all the flight operations deadlines and will communicate progress over the coming weeks.
