Yarra is committed to the health, wellbeing and safety of our community and workforce.
To help slow the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) in our community, we have made some changes to our Maternal and Child Health and immunisation services based on advice from the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS).
Maternal Child Health consultations
From Monday, 23 March we will be replacing all face-to-face home visits and centre consultations with telephone or Skype consultations.
All of our Maternal and Child Health centres will be closed, and group sessions will not be running.
Immunisation services
Our immunisation service will be running as normal, with extra precautions in place.
Some locations have changed – please .
At these sessions, we will be taking extra precautions to protect our community and staff from the spread of the virus. Staff will be wearing protective items, and we will ensure appropriate social distancing, with a minimum of four square metres per person. Only one parent or caregiver should attend the session with their child who is being immunised.
Children, parents and their caregivers who feel unwell or have a temperature should not attend these sessions.
Other support
We understand that many parents are likely to be feeling anxious or concerned about their children’s health and wellbeing during the COVID-19 pandemic. Parents should be reassured that the evidence so far is babies and children under five almost never get seriously ill from COVID-19.
