Officers from Strike Force Trident are investigating a violent disturbance which is alleged to have occurred around 8:30 last night at the complex of a Palmerston shopping centre.
Police responded to a call for assistance when a group of approximately seven persons were reportedly behaving in a disorderly manner.
Security guards had attempted to move the group on due to their behaviour when members of the group allegedly armed themselves with sticks and poles, using the weapons and nearby trolleys to smash the doors to the shopping centre.
A security guard was allegedly assaulted by a female amongst the group, with others throwing projectiles at security.
Police attended and arrested three youths and three adults in relation to the matter.
The three youths aged 12, 13 and 17 were released for youth diversion.
The three adults aged 18, 20 and 31 have been charged with:
- Disorderly behaviour in a public place
- Assault a worker
- Damage to property
- Take part in riot
- Armed with an offensive weapon
