Our new fleet of waste trucks are now on the streets collecting your food and garden, recycling, and household rubbish.
After 10 years of service, and over 58,000,000 bin collections later, it is the end of the road for our old waste collection trucks. Having endured the inevitable wear and tear, our old trucks have come to the end of their lifespan.
The new and improved trucks have better suspension, a customised wheelbase and sophisticated on-board vehicle computer system to improve maneuverability and ensure safe access in difficult areas during collection. Special purpose-built cameras also provide high quality images to assist in the identification of contamination and other safety and collection management issues. The advanced vehicles have technology that will provide real time collection, footage and driver run data, delivering a more efficient waste collection service to the community in line with the recently endorsed Waste and Resource Strategy 2023 – 2030.
There will be no change to the existing waste collection schedule following the introduction of these new trucks into circulation.
