Chickens come home to roost – fifth IBAC probe into Andrews

Liberal Party Victoria

Revelations of a potential fifth IBAC probe into Daniel Andrews appears to be a case of the chickens coming home to roost.

It is reported today that IBAC investigators are actively probing a complaint made by a police whistleblower in June regarding the Red Shirts Rort.

In August, an explosive 29-page statement from a whistleblower alleged that police tasked with interviewing Labor MPs over the Red Shirts Rort were actively blocked from doing their jobs in a deliberate cover-up.

Mr Andrews must come clean today on what he knows about this fifth IBAC probe.

The five IBAC probes that Mr Andrews has or is currently facing are:

1. Operation Richmond – into dealings between the United Firefighters Union and the Andrews Government over pay deals.

2. Operation Sandon – alleged corrupt land deals which saw Mr Andrews questioned by IBAC.

3. Operation Watts – a joint investigation between IBAC and the Ombudsman that focused on the use of ministerial advisers, MPs’ electorate officers and related public resources to pursue factional agendas in the Victorian branch of the Australian Labor Party and found these practices occurred.

4. Operation Daintree – reportedly involving allegations surrounding a $2.2 million grant to the Health Services Union immediately prior to the 2018 election.

5. Red Shirts – reportedly into allegations that police investigating the Red Shirts Rort were actively blocked from doing their jobs.

Shadow Minister for Government Scrutiny, Louise Staley, said Mr Andrews’ chickens are coming home to roost.

“To paraphrase the old saying, once might be an accident, twice a coincidence – but five times is a pattern.”

“It’s clear the Andrews Labor Government is rotten to the core and that the only way to restore integrity and accountability in government is to vote Liberals and ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾s and to put Labor last.”
