A young boy has died, and a man has been injured, when a side-by-side ATV rolled over south of Tamworth this morning.
About 9.40am (Saturday 22 January 2022), emergency services were called to a property at Phillips Creek Road, Cattle Creek – about 124km south of Tamworth – following reports a recreation vehicle had rolled.
Despite the efforts of residents at the property, the passenger – a nine-year-old boy – died at the scene.
The driver – a man aged 41 – sustained arm and leg injuries and was transported to Tamworth Hospital for treatment and mandatory blood and urine testing.
Officers attached to Oxley Police District attended and established a crime scene, which has been forensically examined by the Crash Investigation Unit (CIU).
An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash is continuing.
