The Chinese Film Week is set to make a return to Hobart. The Consulate General of The People’s Republic of China for Tasmania and Victoria has officially confirmed this important cultural event, scheduled to take place for one week from Friday, 1st of September.
The film festival will be a treat for movie enthusiasts, as it will feature seven compelling movie-length features that provide a captivating glimpse into the spirit and life of the Chinese people. The curated selection includes a range of themes, from the science fiction adventure film Wandering EarthⅡ, to a touching story centred around a teenager and her beloved dog. Audiences will also be enthralled by a gripping murder mystery set in the Song Dynasty and the awe-inspiring story of a team of elite pilots.
“We see an event like this as an important cultural exchange, with the aim of strengthening the bonds between the people of Tasmania and China. This event has been immensely successful in the past, drawing over 1000 Tasmanians to theatres, eager to immerse themselves in these cinematic treasures. It’s not only as an opportunity for the local Chinese community to reconnect with their homeland but also for the wider Australian community to gain insight into Chinese film.” said Consul General Jianhua Zeng.
The Consul General will be proudly hosting the seven-day event, with support from PR Asia. The festival will officially kick off with a grand opening ceremony, to be graced by the Acting Consul General and other dignitaries.
