Christmas stocking up on the Bureau of Meteorology calendar

The Bureau of Meteorology has again produced the ideal Christmas gift for the weather-obsessed or the person who has everything: the Australian Weather Calendar 2019.

Featuring images of locations as far apart as the Northern Territory and Antarctica, this year’s calendar continues the long tradition of presenting beautiful pictures which show weather and nature in some of their most spectacular forms.

It can all be delivered in time for the big day, with the Bureau’s elves expert at organising postage within Australia or overseas.

From hundreds of entries in its annual photo competition the Bureau’s judges eventually settled on just thirteen images – one for each month and another for the cover.

The Bureau’s CEO and Director of Meteorology Dr Andrew Johnson describes it as a showcase of Australia’s natural wonders.

“Each year since 1983 the Australian Weather Calendar has captured the stunning diversity of Australia’s climate through the lenses of some incredibly talented photographers,” Dr Johnson said.

“People in up to 80 countries bring a slice of Australia into their homes with our calendar, while thousands of Australians make it a regular part of their new year.”

Published jointly by the Bureau of Meteorology and the Australian Meteorological and Oceanographic Society (AMOS), the weather calendar can be ordered from the Bureau’s online shop at , or by phone on 1300 798 789 or in person at selected Bureau offices.
