An Adelaide business has been fined after breaching COVID-19 guidelines.
About 8pm Friday 10 July police attended a Waymouth Street backpackers hostel to conduct a COVID-19 compliance check.
Upon arrival police identified that the business failed to have a COVID Safe Plan in place and had concerns people were failing to physically distance from each other.
Police further identified four people who had recently arrived from Victoria and who were self-quarantining at that nominated location. Officers had concerns over their ability to quarantine from other patrons and engaged SA Health who moved the three men and one woman to a Hotel on North Terrace to complete their self-quarantine.
The four have been COVID tested of which the results are yet unknown.
The business was issued with a $5060 expiation for failing to have a COVID Safe Plan, Provide Communal Food and not providing space for physical distancing. The business was also issued a Direction under the EMA to comply with requirements to have a COVID Safe Plan and to stop providing communal food services and to ensure physical distancing.
All those other residents at the location were provided information relating to seeking help if they should develop flu like symptoms and to self-quarantine immediately and seek a COVID-19 test.
