On Monday 3 February to Friday 7 February, the City of Ballarat Enterprise Agreement Voting Period opened for a second round of voting.
In the four weeks leading up to the second round of voting, senior staff, including myself, had amiable and open conversations about the proposed Agreement with staff throughout the organisation. The aim of these conversations was to clarify any questions and to explain the benefits of the proposed Agreement, hear any remaining concerns from staff, and receive feedback – feedback that was discussed by the EBA negotiating team, including the unions.
I am grateful for the time and care that staff and union representatives took over this time. It has been a very open, and far from intimidating, process leading to an Agreement that has been very clearly welcomed across the organisation with a 63.5% yes vote.
A yes vote shows employees faith in the future of the organisation, and the great working conditions the City of Ballarat offers. The pay rise is in line with industry standards but still allows the City of Ballarat to remain fiscally responsible to our community, particularly as we prepare for our fifth year of budgeting under a state government rate cap.
