The following statement is attributable to City of Ballarat Mayor Cr Ben Taylor.
This afternoon I am pleased to announce the appointment of Janet Dore as the City of Ballarat’s interim Chief Executive Officer. She will commence her role as interim CEO on Friday 12 June 2020.
Ms Dore is a highly experienced public service senior executive with extensive Local Government experience, as well as experience from not-for-profit and private enterprises.
Ms Dore has excellent strategic capability and brings a focus on culture, governance and probity as well as experience and familiarity with the local area and region.
She currently holds positions on a number of boards including Central Highlands Water and Municipal Association Victoria WorkCare and has previously been the Municipal Monitor for the Ararat Rural City Council and Chair of the Committee for Ballarat.
Between 2007 and 2015 she was the CEO of the Transport Accident Commission and General Manager of Newcastle City Council between 1999 and 2007. She was also the first CEO of the City of Ballarat from 1994 to 1999.
Ms Dore holds an MBA from Deakin University and has undertaken Strategic Leadership and Advanced Management programs at the University of Oxford.
Ms Dore has been appointed as the interim CEO for up to 10 months to allow enough time for a newly elected Council to conduct a thorough recruitment process.
