City of Darwin is pleased to offer free parking in Zone A and Zone B in the Darwin city centre, from 3pm on Mondays until Fridays, for a three-month period.
From Monday 2 December 2024, on-street parking will be free in Zones A and B after 3pm during the week, making it easier for people to shop, dine and explore the city.
Lord Mayor Kon Vatskalis said City of Darwin is supporting local businesses in the lead up to Christmas and during the quieter non-peak visitor months.
“Councillor Sam Weston bought a Notice of Motion to Council to support a three-month trial for free on-street parking in the Darwin city centre which was endorsed,” Mr Vatskalis said.
“We know it can be tough for businesses during the non-peak season, and we’re hoping that this initiative encourages residents and visitors to visit the city centre during the holidays.
“We are lucky to have an incredible range of retailers and world-class hospitality venues within the city centre, and I encourage everyone to make use of this offer to explore our wonderful city,” he said.
Free parking in the city centre will be available at on-street locations in Zone A and Zone B from 3pm, Monday through to Friday, from Monday 2 December 2024 until Friday 28 February 2025.
Parking in the city centre remains free all weekend except in Zone A on Saturdays from 8am to 2pm. All zones are free and unrestricted from 2pm Saturday and all-day Sunday.
