City staff have delivered free and fully decorated 2.4-metre-high Christmas trees and large wreathes to community and not-for-profit organisations in Greater Geelong.
We are thrilled to facilitate the opportunity to rehome these beautiful decorations that have been generously donated by Melbourne Airport to help bring festive cheer and joy.
This Christmas in Geelong initiative aims to enhance the atmosphere in our region, support social enterprises doing incredible work, contribute to the circular economy and leverage our networks.
Following an Expressions of Interest process, these organisations have received free decorations:
- The Paddock (Encompass Community Services)
- University Hospital Geelong
- McKellar Centre
- Meli
- Creative Geelong

The City is excited to help make the festive season extra special for community and not-for-profit organisations.
Grassroots organisations are the heart of Greater Geelong and do so much to support our community.
Christmas can be a challenging time for some, which is why we wanted to spread some festive cheer with these beautifully decorated Christmas trees and wreathes.
Leopold ward Councillor Trent Sullivan
It is fantastic to give a festive boost to the community while recycling beautiful decorations that could have gone to landfill.
The organisations haven’t been charged for the decorations or delivery and get to keep them permanently.
This is a small way the City and Melbourne Airport can give back to community and ensure positive social and sustainability outcomes – Merry Christmas!
Melbourne Airport Executive General Manager of Strategy, Planning & Community Justin Portelli
