City of Perth excels in sustainability survey

Our report card shows the City excelled in the way we monitor our water quality and nutrient levels along our shores.

The City of Perth has achieved an above-average score of 76% in implementing nutrient Best Management Practices, as awarded by the South East Regional Centre for Urban Landcare (SERCUL).

SERCUL surveys local government authorities and their nutrient practices annually.

Excessive input of nutrients into the Swan and Canning River systems and local wetlands can cause reoccurring algal blooms, which can become toxic.

The survey looks at fertilizer applications, nutrient management and education, water quality monitoring and development control used by local government authorities.

Our report card shows the City excelled in the way we monitor our water quality and nutrient levels along our shores.

The City is thrilled to have its commitment to our wonderful environment recognised, and will continue to strive to maintain best practice.
