City of Salisbury has engaged award-winning South Australian company Blanco Horner Hospitality Management to operate a new café at the Salisbury Community Hub.
Blanco Horner – which runs several catering and restaurant businesses across Adelaide – has entered into a five-year contract for the café after the company was identified as the preferred lessee through a Council tender process.
The café will officially open later this year alongside the Hub and will serve a range of light meals, snacks, cakes and slices as well as non-alcoholic beverages.
The starting operational hours will be between 8:30am and 5pm on weekdays, Saturday 8:30am to 2:00pm and Sunday 10am to 1pm.
City of Salisbury Mayor Gillian Aldridge OAM said that community feedback during consultation on the Hub had informed the decision to include a café.
“At the heart of the Salisbury Community Hub is the ability to bring the community together to exchange ideas, learn, participate and celebrate in a range of dynamic spaces,” Ms Aldridge said.
“The addition of a café will help to secure the hub as a vibrant and enticing place for all – whether you’re grabbing a coffee before setting down on the terrace to study in the sun, or sharing a snack with friends after joining in one of Council’s many programs.”
Blanco Horner co-director Christopher Horner said the company looked forward to presenting Salisbury with the same high quality service and food options that underpinned the success of all of its ventures – including Flinders University Hub’s Café Alere, which was named the 2019 and 2018 South Australian Café of the Year.
“We want to embrace the local community, provide training and employment opportunities, support economic growth in the northern region and help to build on the thriving community spirit Salisbury has to offer,” Mr Horner said.
Mr Horner, who feels a strong affinity with Salisbury having grown up in the northern suburbs, said the business was also keen to explore working with northern suppliers for the 25 square metre café.
