City Of Whittlesea Scoops Pool In Recent Awards

A commitment to delivering excellence for its community is paying off with the City of Whittlesea being named finalists and winners in a series of industry awards recently.

The City of Whittlesea took home three out of five ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Awards at the ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Growth Areas Alliance (NGAA) Awards recently.

It was also recognised for working in partnership with First Peoples with a 2024 Maggolee Award for the Quarry Hills Future Directions Plan. In Woi Wurrung, the language of the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation, Maggolee means here in this place. Maggolee Awards recognise Victorian local governments working in partnership with First Peoples. The Quarry Hills Future Directions Plan reflects the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung cultural values as a framework for recognition, protection and enhancement of the parkland.

The City of Whittlesea also won a coveted Gold award at the Australasian Reporting Awards for its 2022-23 Annual Report.

At the recent Parks and Leisure Australia (VIC/TAS) awards, the City of Whittlesea, Mitchell Shire Council and Hume City Council won the Strategic and Master Planning category for their collaboration on the Cloverton Regional Community and Recreation Needs Assessment. The assessment is an important piece of work in the planning for the new Cloverton Metropolitan Activity Centre to be established in Kalkallo. It is predicted that Cloverton will be home to 10,000 people in the city centre and an estimated 380,000 people in the wider area, making good planning absolutely essential.

Council was a finalist in two other categories including in the Community Based Initiative of the Year Award category for the Cloverton historical joint Council Meeting, and in the Playspace Award (>$500,000) category for the Redleap Recreation Reserve Playspace.
