City’s community partnerships

The City of Adelaide will partner with local community groups to deliver new programs which encourage the public to access, engage and actively participate in the local community.

A total of $137,000 has been awarded to four different organisations as part of the City of Adelaide Community Impact Grants Strategic Partnerships Program, with each organisation to receive between $25,000 and $50,000.

This is the second instalment of the annual Community Impact Program, with four new Strategic Partnerships selected from 18 applications:

  • Kaurna Foundational Knowledge Project will produce a series of free, online videos with Jack Buckskin of Kuma Kaaru Cultural Services telling the story of Kaurna culture and language.
  • Regenerate in the Adelaide Parklands by Trees for Life will host intergenerational bushcare sessions and nature walks within the Adelaide Park Lands to promote physical and mental wellbeing in attendees.
  • Activation of the City of Adelaide Skate Park hosted by On The Flipside will be an annual program of workshops, music and events at the City of Adelaide Skate Park.
  • Conversations in the City to be produced by the Council on the Ageing (COTA) will deliver a series of real-life and digital forums featuring guest speakers that inspire, connect and support older people visiting and living in the City of Adelaide.

Lord Mayor Jane Lomax Smith said this program was important to help people become active in their local community.

“These four partnerships will all help build a sense of belonging for people in our city and encourage them to become more involved in their community,” said the Lord Mayor.

“This year we were fortunate to receive a wide range of applications and the partnerships we’ve chosen cover various priorities including reconciliation, social inclusion and youth activation.

“It’s great that we can help bring these public programs to life because a thriving city needs an active, inclusive and connected community.”

The successful partner programs will be eligible for future funding to extend the programs for two more years, dependent on the successful delivery of the community initiatives.

The four new initiatives join the current Strategic Partnerships, now in their second year: Aboriginal Community Housing, Headspace Adelaide, Catherine House and One Culture Football.
