City’s Latest Budget Report Shows Positive Improvement

The financial sustainability measures implemented by the City of Coffs Harbour have financially recovered the City’s originally projected 2022-23 operating deficit before capital revenue for the General Fund of $5.3m to only $0.1m, as of the March 2023 Quarterly Budget Review and Progress Report.

The revised consolidated result revealed a net surplus of $50.2m and an operating surplus before capital revenue of $10.5m.

“Further positive improvement on the financial front is extremely welcome,” said City of Coffs Harbour Mayor Paul Amos. “It’s not just positive for the organisation, but very positive news for the whole community.”

The also outlines the City’s achievements and challenges recorded during the three months and provides updates on the City’s services, projects and key operational activities.

It provides an overview of the City’s activities in the 2022-23 Operational Plan that are designed to achieve the objectives and strategies of the Community Strategic Plan (CSP).

Key highlights relating to the themes in the CSP include:

Community Wellbeing

  • Library services received 44,664 visitors and issued 78,857 items

Community Prosperity

  • Coffs Coast was placed top 3 in the Global Green Destinations Story awards

A Place for Community

  • The Draft Public Realm Strategy placed on public exhibition
  • 78.5% of the total Construction Certificates were issued
  • All water quality complaints were resolved

Sustainable Community Leadership

  • There was an 8.6% increase in the City’s corporate social media audience
  • 95% of customer enquiries were resolved at first point of contact
  • 97.2% of roads were defect-free

Completed capital works

  • Coffs Coast Regional Sports Hub opened new amenities
  • The landfill gas system was upgraded
  • Rehabilitation work was completed on a section of Solitary Islands Way
  • Cavanbah Hall air-conditioning was renewed.
