City to host Be Well Be Connected Expo for older adults and people with disabilities

A Be Well Be Connected Expo for older adults and people with disabilities will take place between 10am and 3pm on Thursday May 9 at the Bendigo Exhibition Centre located at the Prince of Wales Showgrounds in Bendigo.

The expo, which is free to attend, will feature over 60 exhibits showcasing aged care, community and disability products and services, along with special information sessions on the NDIS and positive ageing. Visitors to the expo will have the opportunity to meet face-to-face with service providers, advisors and support groups. They will also hear from a range of speakers on topics from inclusive employment to dementia care.

City of Greater Bendigo Health and Wellbeing Director Vicky Mason said the expo was a partnership between the VALID (Victorian Advocacy league for Individuals with a Disability) and the City.

“The theme ‘Be Well Be Connected’ is important, as it recognises the benefits of being well, connected and participating in the community. The expo is a great opportunity to learn how to get the best from your aged care or NDIS packages and find out about how to get more involved in the community,” Ms Mason said.

“Everyone is welcome to come along to the Be Well Be Connected Expo. It will be a great opportunity to learn about what is on offer in our region and to assist older people and those with disabilities in our community to be more informed.”

Two Auslan interpreters and the Marveloo, a mobile accessible restroom for people with a disability and their carers, will be available on the day.
