Civic Theatre’s C2 Sessions return

Townsville City Council is again giving local talent the stage to showcase their skills, as its C2 Sessions return to Townsville’s Civic Theatre at the end of this month for a second show.

The C2 Sessions are a Council initiative giving local musicians, artists, performers, comedians, drag acts, plays and more a platform to perform in front of a live audience.

Community and Cultural Development Committee chairperson Ann-Maree Greaney said the second show featured local legends De Flaneur and Bob Karma.

“In March, Council put out an expression of interest to local artists to see who would like to be part of the C2 Sessions,” Cr Greaney said.

“Some of our region’s most talented performers got in touch, which has been enough to fill several shows.

“C2 refers to the name of the blackbox venue at the back of the Civic Theatre and is the perfect space to foster the connection between artist and audience.

“Council received positive feedback from the first show and is delighted to be able to put it on again.”

Artist Bob Karma said he was excited to be able to bring his reggae-inspired music to stage and share it with locals.

“Townsville has a large and diverse arts and culture scene, and it is great to see initiatives like this support local artists and help them hone their skills,” he said.

“It also allows locals to experience some of the amazing talent in North Queensland.

“Being able to play in front of room full of people who are having a great time is a fantastic feeling and I am looking forward to stepping on stage and performing at the Civic Theatre.”

The C2 Sessions #2 is one of the several shows at the Townsville Civic Theatre during October.

The line up of shows includes Anh Do live, Barrier Reef Orchestra’s Celtic Celebration, Sleeping Beauty and more.

The C2 Sessions #2 is on Saturday 28 October 2023. Tickets are on sale now at .
