The $25M Clarence Town Road – Raymond Terrace to Dungog upgrade aims to improve freight efficiency and road safety across the region, improve connectivity between people and jobs, and facilitate movement of goods to markets.
The project will deliver upgrades to 22 sections of the road, improving road safety and access, and is being delivered by Dungog Shire Council and Port Stephens Council.
Dungog Shire Council has largely completed pre-construction works for its 11 segments of the road upgrade, with works commenced on Segments 1, 2 and 7, and completed on Segment 3.
Significant achievements to be realised in the next six months include:
- Completion of construction on Segments 1, 2 and 7; and
- Commencement of construction on Segments 4, 5, 8, 10 and 11.
While a significant amount of time has been lost due to COVID-19 and wet weather delays (128 days), the upgrade is scheduled for completion in mid-2023.
