ClearMind, Australia’s leader in the premium non-alcoholic drinks sector, began distributing non-alcoholic wines more than twenty-five years ago. Non-alcoholic wines have gained popularity over that time and surged in popularity in the last three years. With that surge has come a new level of finesse and flavour, while ClearMind’s expertise in choosing the very best of the world’s ranges has been acknowledged time and time again to stand on the top tier.
The tasting of non-alcoholic wines even took place within the international wine competition for the world’s most noble wines Mundus Vini’s (Grand International Wine Award) Spring Tasting 2023, for the first time this year. 187 non-alcoholic wines were tasted, the best of which were awarded 21 gold and 54 silver medals. ClearMind was honoured to see one of its wines, Nett Breakaway Pinot Blanc winning gold and Best in Show for non-alc wines. Nett Breakaway Pinot Blanc
Gold medal, Mundus Vini non-alcoholic at ProWein 2023 in Düsseldorf
Winner Best in Show, Mundus Vini non-alcoholic – ProWein Düsseldorf, 2023
The Mundus Vini awards took place at ProWein in Düsseldorf, Germany, the world’s biggest and most relevant trade fair for wines and spirits, with 6,000 exhibitors from 61 countries and 49,000 trade visitors. For the first time ProWein featured a ‘World of Zero’ focusing on the non-alcoholic sector. The judges noted that “there are numerous more than recommendable wines in this segment and some that bring outstanding quality to the glass”.
Bergdolt-Reif & Nett winery was also awarded a Platinum medal from The Decanter in 2022.
The Nett de-alcoholised wine joins a growing list of awards that ClearMind’s wines have won recently. They include:
Leitz Eins-Zwei-Zero Riesling
Gold medal, VINORDIC Wine Challenge, Sweden, 2022
Leitz Eins-Zwei-Zero Rose Gold medal, VINORDIC Wine Challenge, Sweden, 2022
Leitz owner, Johannes Leitz, explained in a New York Times interview why his Eins-Zwei-Zero wines receive top tier awards and reviews. They are produced from the same Riesling grapes used to make the brand’s popular Eins-Zwei-Dry wines, and while other de-alcoholised wines are vacuum distilled at 30C or higher, Leitz vacuum-distils its wine at 28 C.
Global food and drink magazine, The Tasting Table, also rated Leitz’ wines as #1 in its list of the best non-alcoholic wines available.
“The world, it seems, has caught on to what our partners at ClearMind have always believed – that life is there to be enjoyed. ClearMind began because the team wanted to drink wine with their cheese, or at dinner with friends, while still pursuing a healthy lifestyle. When ClearMind began in 1995, that might have meant ordering a hundred cases from like minded producers for personal use. Fortunately, that lifestyle has now gone mainstream and both the quality and range of alcohol-free beverages is better than ever. Swift + Moore are proud to continue the legacy and commitment to the sector that our partners commended over 25 years ago” said Michael McShane, CEO of Swift + Moore.
“We’ve been importing Europe and the Americas’ best alcohol-free wines, beers and spirits for over 25 years now, and we know better than anyone that you won’t believe it’s possible until you taste it for yourself” Frank Hubbard, ClearMind Managing Director.
