Prepare to be captivated by the climate-tackling performance called The End of Winter showing at the Shoalhaven Entertainment Centre this month.
In hot, bushfire-prone Australia our winters are becoming warmer and shorter. Climate change might eventually erase the season, leaving it to exist only in paintings, fairytales and historical accounts.
“The End of Winter is a one-woman performance reflecting the challenges our community and environment face,” said Mayor Amanda Findley.
“This award-winning show reminds us that our choices today shape the winters of tomorrow,” Cr Findley said.
Written in the wake of the devastating 2019 bushfires, the show is directed by Kate Gaul, renowned for her work on H.M.S Pinafore and written by Noëlle Janaczewska.
The play is a feminist piece that delves into the dynamics of shifting identities of a woman such as writer, child, caregiver, lover, and explorer.
Performed by actor Jane Phegan, The End of Winter is about loss and resilience. It’s about the places the writer goes in search of the cold weather she loves. Don’t miss the opportunity to witness this thought-provoking and emotional performance.
The End of Winter will be performed at 1pm and 8pm, Friday 15 September at the Shoalhaven Entertainment Centre.
