An incident in Mullumbimby resulted in the closure of Byron Shire Council’s offices in Station Street today (19 September 2019) and the relocation of the monthly Planning meeting.
At 8:00am this morning Police advised Council to close its administration building while they investigated an incident in the Mullumbimby central business district.
Council’s Works depot at Byron Bay remained operational, as did Council’s administration desk at the Byron Bay Visitor Centre where staff were available to help members of the public with their enquiries.
The monthly Planning meeting was relocated to the Mullumbimby Civic Centre.
General Manager, Mark Arnold, said Council offices will reopen at the direction of the police.
“I apologise for any inconvenience to our community,” Mr Arnold said.
“We support the Police who do a great job for our community and they will advise us when we are allowed to go back into our offices,” he said.
Any questions about the incident in Mullumbimby should be directed to the NSW Police.
