Murgon detectives have charged 12 people with 204 drug offences following the closure of Operation Konopie targeting the supply of dangerous drugs across Murgon, Mundubbera, and Gayndah.
During the five-month long operation which commenced in June 2021, police utilised information from the public, investigative strategies and other tactical actions across the North and South Burnett policing districts which culminated in the arrest of a 29-year-old woman in Mundubbera on November 1.
The Mount Gravatt East woman was charged with 147 offences including 139 counts of supplying dangerous drugs, and one count each of trafficking dangerous drugs and receiving or possessing property obtained from trafficking or supplying and other related offences.
Police allege that she has supplied methamphetamine to numerous persons over an extended period in the North and South Burnett.
She appeared in the Kingaroy Magistrates Court on November 2.
Acting Detective Inspector Renee Garske thanked the community for the information they provided throughout the course of the investigation.
“This joint approach between regional and specialist practitioners that target drug supply, demand, and harm reduction with the input of the regional community members being vital to the success of policing operations,” she said.
“Operation Konopie has led to safer communities of Mundubbera and Gayndah.”
