Detectives from the Organised Crime Gangs Group (OCGG), Brisbane Tactical operations (Taskforce Maxima) targeted members and associates of several outlaw motorcycle gangs throughout Sunshine Coast and Hervey Bay last week.
Taskforce Maxima worked in partnership with local police investigating Rebels, Bandidos and Comanchero syndicates to execute 17 search warrants.
Investigators charged 29 people, including 10 confirmed members of the Rebels outlaw motorcycle gangs, with 110 offences.
Detectives seized a number of loaded firearms, significant quantities of cocaine, ice and cannabis as well as evidence of other offending including stolen property.
Police will allege on August 22, in one of the search warrants at a Duke Street house, Doonan investigators seized cocaine and cannabis valued at over $60,000. Police also seized ammunition, weapons, cash ($40,000) and mobile phones leading to charges against a 33-year-old woman and a 35-year-old man.
The 35-year-old man was charged with supply dangerous drug (cocaine), produce dangerous drug (cannabis), possess things used, possess proceeds of crime, possess property suspected stolen, possess explosives (ammunition), possess restricted item and three counts of possession of firearms. He is due to appear in the Maroochydore Magistrates Court October 7.
The 33-year-old woman was charged with 16 drug and weapons offences and is due to face the Maroochydore Magistrates court on October 7.
This again indicates the Organised Crime Gangs Group will act when and where necessary across the state in partnership with regional police to disrupt OCGG’s and the threat they pose to the community.
“The Queensland Police Service and the OCGG is committed to targeting organised crime state-wide and we will continue to do this to make the Queensland community safe” Detective Inspector Tim Leadbetter said.
