Colac Visitor Information Centre to welcome spring visitors

The Colac Visitor Information Centre (ColacVIC) will reopen on Friday 9 September for two days per week after COVID-19 restrictions forced its closure back in 2020.

“Council is pleased to welcome visitors in person back to the ColacVIC as spring brings more people to experience our wonderful region and in time for the September school holidays,” says Chief Executive Officer, Anne Howard. “It’s also hoped that reopening the centre will encourage visitors to spend more time in the local area and more money in the local economy.”

“Forecasts for international visitor numbers show we are unlikely to be back to pre-pandemic numbers until 2024-2025, but we know many Victorians have discovered our wonderful region and so we might get to welcome more domestic visitors.”

“We can’t predict exactly what visitors we might see and so we will start with opening the Colac facility on our two busiest days and monitor the demand, allowing us to update plans in the future if needed.”

The centre will be open on Fridays from 10am – 6pm and on Saturdays from 9am – 4pm the corner of Murray and Queen Streets in Colac. This will complement the Great Ocean Road Visitor Information Centre in Apollo Bay, which is open 7 Days, 9am – 5pm, as well as an online service through visitgreatoceanroad.org.au/post_location/colac.

When ColacVIC is closed, visitors can access services via phone and email from the Great Ocean Road Visitor Information Centre.
