Collie funding open for economy-boosting initiatives

  • Applications for funding now open for second round of the Collie Futures Small Grants Program
  • Up to $100,000 in funding available per job-creating, economy-boosting initiative
  • There are now more reasons for start-ups, businesses and organisations to choose Collie when setting-up or diversifying, with a new round of McGowan Government funding opening up fresh opportunities.

The second round of the Collie Futures Small Grants Program is now open, offering up to $100,000 to organisations with initiatives that will have a positive impact on Collie’s economy.

The financial support offered through the program is on top of the $2 million per industry-led project accessible through the $18 million Collie Futures Industry Development Fund.

Both the Collie Futures Industry Development Fund and Collie Futures Small Grants Program are part of the wider Collie Futures Fund, which is designed to stimulate economic development and diversification.

Investment through the Collie Futures Fund is guided by the Collie Futures Economic Advisory Committee which works to identify, consider and recommend worthwhile projects to Government.

As stated by Regional Development Minister Alannah MacTiernan:

“Projects supported through this grants program are expected to deliver a return on investment, helping to diversify Collie’s economic base and creating new jobs.

“The first round of the Collie Futures Small Grants Program provided a financial helping hand towards a number of initiatives which are progressing, including a demonstration marron farm, hay processing plant and energy-intensive data centre.

“The program is part of the McGowan Government’s efforts to secure ongoing prosperity for Collie through broadening the economy to create jobs in a range of industries for local people.”

As stated by Collie-Preston MLA Mick Murray:

“Collie continues to open its doors to new industry, including start-ups and small-to-medium businesses.

“I look forward to seeing more enterprises choosing Collie as a base. The Collie River Valley and wider region have a lot to offer in terms of comparative advantages. These include heavy and light industrial parks, as well as attractive lifestyle opportunities for workers.”
