Western Sydney will play host to the CommBank Junior Matildas when a 30-player squad comes together for the second time this year as the build-up continues for April’s AFC U17 Women’s Asian Cup Indonesia 2024™ Qualifying Round 1.
The second assembly will take place over five days commencing on 20 February and concluding on 24 February 2023.
Head Coach Rae Dower said she is looking forward to overseeing the next set of players as she scours Australia for players to make up the final squad in April.
“We’re excited to get straight back into our second camp of the year as we ramp up our preparations for our Round 1 Qualifiers in Mongolia,” Dower said.
“On the back of the friendly matches against the Korea Republic late last year, and these back-to-back camps in February, we’ll have been able to provide 50 players with an opportunity to showcase their talents in a national team assembly.
Sydney’s training camp squad sees nine new players attending for the first time, with seven Member Federations represented overall.
“The staff and I couldn’t be happier with the quality of the players we’ve seen so far and we’re looking forward to another great week of laying the foundations for how we want to play in these upcoming Qualifiers,” she continued.
“Over the next couple of months, we’ll start to travel around the country conducting Elite Matches for 2007/2008 born players. We want to ensure that every talented player in Australia has the opportunity to reach their full potential and to give every talent a chance, we will travel far and wide to unearth that potential,” Dower concluded.
