The CommBank Pararoos will assemble for a training camp in Sydney this month, as they ramp up preparations for the upcoming .
Being staged at the ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ of the Matildas in Melbourne between 31 October and 12 November 2023, these Championships will be the first major tournament on home soil for the CommBank Pararoos in more than 20 years.
The 19-player squad will train out of Knox Grammar School during the July camp, under the watchful eye of Head Coach, Kai Lammert and his team.
The camp presents another opportunity for uncapped youngsters Noah Bremmer-Bell (Football West) and Riley Stubing (Football SA) to stake their claims ahead of the Para Asian Cup. They will also be able to lean on the experience of both David Barber (106 caps) and Ben Atkins (75 caps) throughout the three-day camp.
Lammert said it was another vital opportunity to bring players together, building on the work form the camp held in March.
“This camp is a continuation of the work we put in during [the previous camp in] March, getting together an exciting group of young players with the right mix of experience at this level,” Lammert said.
“I’m really happy about the quality of players we have coming through across the board, it makes my ultimate task of selecting a squad of 14 [for the Para Asian Cup] a challenge.
“Our pathways are getting stronger, and our program and performances continue to improve as we head towards October. It’s an exciting time to play host to such a significant tournament.
“Every time we come together it’s another chance for players to put their best foot forward and I’ve got no doubt they’ll make the most of it,” Lammert concluded.
This year’s Para Asian Cup will be contested by both the CommBank Pararoos and CommBank ParaMatildas, with the final squads to be announced closer to the tournament.
