Commemorating Remembrance Day in Boroondara

On Remembrance Day, we take a moment to mark the end of the First World War and remember the sacrifices of Australian servicemen and women.

On 11 November 1918, an armistice was signed to end the fighting of the First World War.

On that date, at 11 am, the guns fell silent across the Western Front in Europe, where Australian troops had fought since 1916.

11 November became a day on which Australians remember the sacrifice of those who had died in the war and the sacrifices of all those in the armed services.
