Cooma residents and road users are advised that Council intends to commence construction works on the School Zone Pedestrian Crossings along Commissioner Street from 9am Wednesday 19 October 2022, weather permitting.
Works are expected to last until Monday 31 October 2022, weather permitting.
Council will ensure that the Vale Street works are completed and open to traffic, avoiding multiple road closures at this very busy intersection.
Heavy vehicles will however not be allowed through Vale Street in both directions.
A detour will be implemented throughout the construction period that directs traffic along Soho Street and Bombala Street avoiding work on Commissioner Street.
It is intended that work crews will be on-site between 7am to 5pm, Monday to Friday, and on Saturdays given the urgency of the works.
A Traffic Management Plan is in place with temporary road closures and detours signposted, along with reductions to speed limits.
Council urges all road users and pedestrians to follow the signposted directions, being mindful of workers and equipment on and around the work site.
Affected residents and businesses will receive a notification letter from the contractor.
Cooma Public School, Cooma Coaches and Snow Liner bus companies have all been contacted directly by Council’s project team.
