Committees Framework Policy adopted

Kiama Council

Kiama Council adopted a new Committees Framework Policy at its ordinary meeting on Tuesday 19 September 2023.

The Committees Framework Policy confirms the operating framework for Council’s , which was confirmed at our April Ordinary Meeting. The Policy also provides clarity about changes to Council’s Precinct Structure.

Kiama Mayor Neil Reilly thanked the Precinct Groups and Community Associations for their hard work and collaboration with Council over the years:

“We thank our Precincts and Community Associations for their huge contribution to Council and hope that this does not change. Kiama Council recognises that, although no longer formally part of council, our Precincts and Community Associations will continue to operate and provide value to council and the community.”

The and accompanying report confirms that Precinct Groups will not operate as formal Committees of Council going forward.

This change means that the minutes of Precinct Committees will no longer be included within Council Business Papers and Precinct Groups and Community Associations will from now on operate within their own terms of reference and requirements and will not operate under the Precinct Guidelines formerly provided by Kiama Council.
