We welcome the additionof more sports to our Commonwealth Games event calendar. This recognises that Geelong is well placed to host a wide range of world-class indoor and outdoor events. It will bring substantially more athletes, officials, and spectators to the region, providing more economic and social opportunities locally.
Hosting the Closing Ceremony is a huge honour, and we can’t wait to showcase the best of Geelong – and regional Victoria – to a massive global audience. We are excited by the potential for the Commonwealth Games to have a lasting impact on our community. We’re committed to working with the Government, residents and other stakeholders to determine how the infrastructure and facilities can best meet the needs of the community following the Games.
