Commonwealth Games EOI open to businesses and community groups

The City of Greater Bendigo is encouraging businesses and community groups to express interest in being part of future opportunities relating to the Victoria 2026 Commonwealth Games.

An Expression of Interest form can be found on the Victorian Government’s Victoria 2026 Commonwealth Games webpage –

Local Councils, peak bodies, businesses, Traditional Owners, cultural organisations and community groups are invited to submit their ideas for how they can contribute to making Victoria 2026 a great success.

Mayor Cr Andrea Metcalf said while there was still much to learn about how the Commonwealth Games would be staged, the EOI process intended to capture as many ideas as possible.

“The Games will be a huge economic driver for Victoria and there will be plenty of opportunities for as many people to benefit as possible,” Cr Metcalf said.

“The Games will be centred in Bendigo, Ballarat, Geelong and Gippsland, but surrounding regions are encouraged to also consider how they can participate and benefit from thousands of international visitors coming to Victoria.

“It might be that your business can offer a service like equipment hire, catering or activating precincts by running events or providing entertainment. Smaller communities might like to nominate to hold training camps or groups may join together to put forward an idea or offer to assist.

“The Games are less than four years away, which may seem a little way off but now is when the critical planning work is taking place, and this is your early opportunity to get involved.”

Only Expressions of Interest can be made at this time. There is no number to call and the City is not collecting information.

All ideas need to be submitted via the Victorian Government’s webpage.
