Community inclusivity and cultural experiences will be boosted in Townsville with the endorsement of two grants at this month’s Ordinary Council meeting.
Feros Care will host the Townsville Inclusive Careers and Employment Expo with the help of a $5,672 grant and a $3,741 venue hire fee waiver.
The event will be an inclusive environment where people from school leaver age to 65 can learn more about future careers and employment options while based in Townsville.
Townsville Choral Society will produce a musical theatre production of Singin’ in the Rain at Townsville Civic Theatre in January next year with the support of a $50,000 grant.
The grant will include venue hire, staffing and ticketing support. The event is expected to attract more than 4,500 attendees with the support of 120 participants, 14 paid workers and 120 volunteers.
Community and Cultural Development Committee chairperson Ann-Maree Greaney said she was pleased to see these events supported through Council’s Grants and Partnerships Program.
“Council is committed to growing Townsville into a sustainable destination that embraces and participates in the arts, which is why we are proud to support these two events. Each grant will go towards bolstering Townsville’s inclusivity and culture, which is worthwhile for our community,” Cr Greaney said.
“I look forward to seeing each event come together and roll out during the next two months.”
