The official launch of the 2019 Community Art and Craft Exhibition is at 2pm this Saturday 2 November at the Central Goldfields Art Gallery. Everyone is welcome to attend.
Central Goldfields Shire Chief Administrator Noel Harvey will open the exhibition and announce the first, second and third prize winners for primary and secondary school students, sponsored by the Maryborough Craft Shop Inc.
A wide range of art and craft from residents of Central Goldfields and Avoca has been entered into the annual exhibition.
“We are pleased to see many new participants in this year’s exhibition,” explained Helen Kaptein, Curator of the Central Goldfields Art Gallery.
“People will enjoy looking at the sculptural knitted teapots by Rosy Hardress from Talbot, as well as the felted creations of Alice in Wonderland – a joint creation by Central Goldfields Shire’s Supported Playgroups and Dunolly artist, Anna Ashton.”
Visitors to the exhibition are encouraged to vote for their favourite art or craft work in the People’s Choice Award. The winner of the Award will be announced on the last day of the exhibition and will receive a prize of $100.00.
The exhibition will be on display at Central Goldfields Art Gallery from Saturday 2 November to Sunday 24 November, 2019.
The Central Goldfields Art Gallery is open Thursday to Sunday, 10am to 4pm, and is located in Neill Street in the Old Fire Station, Maryborough.
