The volunteer-run social luncheon group meets every Friday at the Edinburgh Gardens Community Rooms for a free, home cooked three-course meal. The majority of attendees are long term survivors of HIV or elders within the LGBTIQA+ community.
These weekly catchups provide continuity and stability for attendees and allow them to build connections and camaraderie in a fun, warm and welcoming environment.
A huge amount of work goes into planning, preparing and being present for each event – all of the nutritious meals are cooked onsite and always cater to any individual dietary requirements.
Led by Melissa Williams, the volunteers at Positive Attitude Inc deliver their program with unwavering passion, compassion, and a sincere belief in extending a sense of belonging to those who often feel estranged from the broader LGBTIQA+ community.
Through their innovative program, Positive Attitude Inc has effectively combated social isolation and empowered older community members in Melbourne’s inner north and beyond to lead enriched and fulfilling lives.
