Wingecarribee Shire Council is progressing to the next stage of community consultation, for the proposed Bowral South New Living Area (NLA), located between Eridge Park Road and Kangaloon Road Burradoo, and bound by the Wingecarribee River and Bong Bong racecourse.
Council is committed to making provisions for diverse housing that caters to the needs of our community at different stages of their lives. We’re working together as a community to address the housing shortage in our Shire. This project will require careful planning, innovative design, and broad community input to ensure success.
Bowral South NLA was identified in the adopted Local Housing Strategy, and it is now time to implement that strategy by preparing a Master Plan and Servicing Strategy for infrastructure.
What’s happened so far?
Council conducted an early round of Community Design Workshops in November and December 2023. This was done as an Expressions of Interest process, reflecting best practice early consultation methods for upfront brainstorming of ideas.
The feedback received and ideas discussed at these workshops are available on Participate Wingecarribee.
Council has also recently presented at the WinZero public forum hosted at the Moss Vale Services Club March 26th, 2024. The “Future Foundations” community forum explored innovative urban planning principles within the Shire, including how these might shape the future development of the Bowral South NLA.
What is happening now?
Council has already begun consulting with the community on the Bowral South NLA Project through initial upfront engagement. This has resulted in the production of a number of documents that you can share your thoughts on through the Bowral South New Living Area Master Plan Survey currently live on Participate Wingecarribee
Two Community Consultation forums will be held on April 12th 2024 from 5:30pm – 7:30pm and April 13th 2024 from 10:00am to 12:00pm at Loseby Park Community Centre. To attend, access the Participate Wingecarribee to register.
This will provide the community with an opportunity to provide input into the Master Plan and Servicing Strategy. The session will also allow the community to share ideas, provide feedback and make submissions through a broader consultation process.
What is yet to come?
Following broader community consultation, Council and project consultants will review and consider the feedback gathered. This will shape the Draft Master Plan and Servicing Strategy. It is anticipated that the Draft Master Plan and Servicing Strategy will be on Public Exhibition from mid-2024.
