Community groups can apply for a share of $50,000 in funding to support activities taking place during Reconciliation Week and NAIDOC Week in a new round of City of Darwin grants.

The Reconciliation and NAIDOC Week Grants are in addition to City of Darwin’s Community Grants Program, which also opened for applications today, and provides $100,000 in funding for community projects, with grants of up to $10,000 available per community group or activity.

City of Darwin Lord Mayor Kon Vatskalis said the grants would support community organisations with capacity-building projects, activities or events in the Darwin municipality.

“In addition to the $100,000 we commit in Community Grants funding each year, in 2024 we are pleased to offer an additional $50,000 in Reconciliation Week and NAIDOC Week Grants to support activities that honour Larrakia or other First Nations’ achievements or history,” Mr Vatskalis said.

Community Grants will be awarded for activities taking place between 1 July and 31 December 2024 for activities that benefit the community.
