Council is seeking feedback from the community to assist in designing a pump track at the former site of Coldstream Station.
The installation of a pump track is a part of the Coldstream Station Master Plan, which was adopted by Council in October 2021.
Council received State and Federal funding to transform the currently unused 2.7ha site into a key asset for Coldstream community.
Ryrie Ward Councillor, Fiona McAllister, said that the pump track would play a key role in the revitalisation and activation of the site.
“Projects such as this offer such a wonderful opportunity to turn under-utilised space into something that delivers enormous community benefit,” Cr McAllister said.
“Two of the major objectives in our Council Plan include building connected and healthy communities and building quality infrastructure and liveable places, which this project strongly aligns with.
“One thing that our community has made abundantly clear to us during the pandemic is just how highly they value local open space, so to be able to transform and activate an unused Coldstream Station into a place that can be used and enjoyed by all ages and abilities is really exciting.
“This particular site’s connection to the Yarra Valley Trail will also provide more opportunities for people to experience the area in a new way.
“I strongly encourage the Coldstream community to share their ideas on what features and designs they would like to see for this new pump track.”
The Coldstream Station Master Plan has a number of strategic links to Council documents, including the Coldstream Structure Plan, Health and Wellbeing Plan and Recreation and Open Space Strategy.
Community members have until Wednesday, 13 April to provide their input on the pump track design to Council.
