The Pakington North Community Panel has completed its work on the Urban Design Framework (UDF) for the Pakington North Precinct.
The precinct stretches along Pakington Street from Church Street to Waratah and Wellington streets and features mainly retail and hospitality businesses.
The community panel, led by independent engagement consultancy Capire Consulting, has co-designed the UDF over the last three months, making recommendations on urban design, development economics, heritage and neighbourhood character, built form, access and mobility, landscaping and open space.
Last night, the group came together for its fifth and final session to discuss and vote on the UDF document. The vote indicated majority support for the UDF to progress to Council for consideration at its meeting on Tuesday 28 May.
The UDF will be shared with the wider community on Wednesday 15 May ahead of the council meeting on 28 May.
Mayor Trent Sullivan
I am looking forward to considering the UDF next month.
I thank the Pakington North Community Panel members for their willingness to set aside more than 20 hours to participate in five sessions and work together to help shape the future of Pako North.
Your dedication and passion are evident, and Council appreciates the panel’s considered recommendations across a number of areas.
This process has been the most extensive community engagement process the City has ever carried out.
Council looks forward to considering the final Pakington North Precinct UDF on 28 May, which was shaped by a representative sample of the Pakington North community.
A UDF for Pakington Street’s Heritage Core and Gordon Avenue was adopted by Council in December 2021.
