What does Timboon need to make it even better? More places for visitors and locals using the Rail Trail and Twelve Apostles Trail? New public toilets? Where is the best place for events and markets? Where should the pump track go?
Corangamite Shire Council needs to know what townsfolk want so it can ensure we keep what people love and put public facilities in the right places.
A project working group is being established to gather residents’ ideas and priorities which will guide Council’s future investment and works programs.
South Ward Councillor Kate Makin will chair the group.
“The working group will bring together community representatives, business owners, Council staff and other stakeholders to provide input and ideas throughout the project,” Cr Makin said.
“We are looking to invite two or three community members to join.
“Being involved will involve three or four meetings between now and early 2024.
“It’s not a big commitment to something which will have an important and lasting impact.”
Cr Makin said Council was committed to enhancing Timboon’s public spaces.
“Welcoming, safe and accessible public spaces will give the community more things to do, support business, and attract greater tourism potential and investment,” she said.
“Timboon is increasingly becoming a popular tourism destination, so we need to plan now to futureproof the town centre’s public places.
“A precinct plan will help manage development, protect the bush landscape we love so much, and preserve the town’s character.”
